Altitude Sickness

Altitude sickness is the most common illness for climbers and mountaineers in higher areas. There are three different types of altitude sickness: acute altitude sickness or also called acute mountain sickness (AMT), high altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPE) and high altitude cerebral oedema (HACE). The next couple of passages will give you an idea what these illnesses are, why you get them and how to prevent them.

Altar – El Obispo (5.310 m)

El Obispo is the highest elevation of an extinct volcano and one of Ecuador’s hardest climbs. The extinct volcano El Altar or Capac Urcu reaches a maximum altitude of 5.310 m / 17.421 ft.  Ice and rocks on the trail and changing weather conditions make it a difficult climb difficult. more “Altar – El Obispo (5.310 m)”

Sincholagua & Antisana

High season is keeping us busy, but yes, there is a small slot for a Christmas Tour for the 2 of us, our targets are Sincholagua and Antisana, 2 of the less visited mountains in Ecuador.
