Of course, high mountains are our favourit, but what to do before, after and in between your climbs? That’s a big question! We always recommend visiting Baños, a piece of heaven on earth. And in Baños, our hometown, there’s plenty of things to do: hot springs, spa, waterfalls, volcano watching, … AND rock climbing! 

Day one:

There are 3 options: the climbing area San Martín, close to the zoo, the routes below bridge San Francisco and an artificial wall in “El Recreo”.

With Martín – before heading to Cayambe and Chimborazo – we first checked out San Martín’s rocks.

Just next to the rio Pastaza Martín opened one route after the other and like this we spent a wonderful day at the rocks.

Day two:

Our second climbing day led us to the routs below bridge San Francisco … less climbed, so we were alone … not really, we met Fee on our way to the routes and spontaneously she decided to come with us. It was hot! Incredibly hot, the sun was burning. We could watch the people doing “puentening” … jumping from the bridge while preparing for the next route. Quite dirty the routs, but nice climbs 🙂
